Magnus Chase is not a new name for the children and here they get a lot of variety in the form of nine different stories about nine different worlds. Rick Riordan has combined different mythical stories in this one book and they are not only interesting but also possess the potential to make you laugh out loud. Magnus does not take part in the stories and thus the hero of the trilogy is taking some days off. He goes to visit his cousin who lives in a far off land and during his absence things become hilariously out of order.
Annabeth tries to defend Ragnarok in the absence of Magnus though the enemy is strong but the team wants to prove its worth in front of Magnus when he returns.
There is a danger i.e if they fail Magnus would not be able to return to the kingdom again. Author has kept the stories different than The Lightning Thief and The Titan’s Curse in the sense that these nine stories have secondary characters performing most of the action. A lot of action is present in the stories and there is an element of sacrifice along with it but the end is never tragic.
The sacrifices and the action being performed against the odd enemies just make us laugh about theses crazy guys. The author took us to nine different worlds and all of these worlds were full of different characters thus a large number of narrators have performed together in the narration of this book. A pure enjoyment is what the listener feels after the completion of this wonderful book.
