A quick pace story with Chris Schneider as the main agent in Berlin for the detective firm. Its Germany that is under threat this time as the world’s best agency is called for help because the things are about to get out of hands.
James Patterson along with Mark Sullivan paints another part in a new part of the world so that the series can get an international perspective. Also the chain of the firm can also be seen all over the world as the series moves from one continent or part of the world to the other. Chris has been with the firm for years and he possesses a method of his own to solve the toughest cases ever presented to the company and now he vanishes in thin air.
The firm is with no other option rather than to appoint the second best for the job. Mattie Engel who is also Chris’ ex- girlfriend blows her heart out to find for the missing agent. She goes deep into the sinful areas of the city and the secrets that are revealed to her can perhaps engulf whole of Europe. This is the first time we see Germany in the novel as it was not discussed in any of the parts like Private and Private: #1 Suspect.
Double narrators are on the job and January LaVoy and Ari Fliakos give separate pitch and tone to the male and female characters. Also the narrators have tried to sound more German in order to highlight the language of the region. The trends and the traditions of the area are also depicted though not discussed in detail but overall the scenes are excellently described.
