Nelson DeMille is really an extraordinary writer by all means. In every situation the author has something new for all of us and that new story brings us to a point where we can never leave the story incomplete. There are dozens of stories of the kind The Lion’s Game and The Maze which infused amazement in our brains and thoughts. A homicide cop named John Corey emerges at the start of his story and it is told by the narrator Scott Brick that the cop is badly injured because of his last mission.
So one thing is clear i.e the man is not one hundred percent physically even after he returns to his duty. During this time there is news that a couple has been killed by an unknown killer. The couple was working on Plum Island where different germs are kept and experimented on. The case is given to John Corey who starts going through the evidence carefully.
The homicide is forced to speed up the investigation because soon there is another crime of the same category which takes place in the area. Corey thinks that the two cases are connected somehow and in order to find the missing links, he must go to Plum Island on his own.
There is a chance that the police have left the research incomplete because of which they have not been able to find any kind of evidence. Corey has two things in mind i.e look for clues and secondly come out of the place alive so that he can bring down the real criminal. Threats are everywhere so every step must be taken quite carefully.
