This is the last book of the Ascension series by Ken Lozito a series that has become more and more popular with each episode that is presented time after time by the writer. The heroes are the Athena group that was formed long ago when the series started and the crew started its first tour in the solar system in order to investigate an alien race if present in the solar system.
The crew meets different alien species of which some prove to be friendly and some appear to be hostile however none has ever threatened the mother earth in such a serious way as the Confederation, that have posed the greatest threat not only for the Earth but for the entire solar system that it wants to control. The tragedy that the Athena faces is that the whole solar system and the races present in it fail to establish a group against this invasion as some think that they could bear the cruel rule and should not waste their lives in fighting against a power they cannot defeat.
Some of the races show resistance but it is not of a significant nature thus earth seems to be the last planet that has decided to oppose the cruel attack of the Confederation and the resistance of the earth greatly depends on the Athena crew that seems to be ready to face any situation that might emerge. Jeff Hays keep the passion and pace alive with the energetic voice that is so effective especially in this story that needed a voice like that for the narration of the epic battles that include the whole solar system.
