This the first part of a historical fiction by Robin LaFevers who knits the whole story quite well and this first chapter makes the listener or the reader inclined toward the next part of the same series. The series gives an entire new meaning to death as meet Sybella who is trained at Saint Mortain convent for a hidden agenda that he along with a group of friends had to fulfill. The agenda is nothing less than serving for justice and a balance in the world that is becoming darker all the time.
The mission on which Sybella starts working this time is however a bit personal and thus she cannot afford to lose at any rate, she has to save her two younger sisters for which she moves to France but instead of feeling safe there, tragically she finds herself stuck in enemy lines with only one way out i.e find the people who belong to the same convent as they were hidden in France a long time ago. Genevieve is the first one she is looking for but unfortunately she too has one or two problems of her own at hand which she has to solve to make her life appear to be less miserable.
There are several other books by the same writer that possess a strong relation in theme with this story books like Mortal Heart: His Fair Assassin Trilogy, Book 3 – Robin LaFevers, (REQ) Dark Triumph: His Fair Assassin Trilogy, Book 2 – Robin LaFevers are a must read if you like this one. The story reaches a high drama when Sybella and Genevieve reaches a point where they are left with no solution rather than joining their forces together for their survival and the survival of their loved ones. Angela Goethals and Suzy Jackson are the two narrators of the book who have kept good pace and have done a fantastic job.
