Different writers over the years have portrayed the postwar era in their own way, Troy Denning talks about the closest time span after the war. It’s after a year since the war has ended and the face of the colony is not the same in any regard.
Covenant has been defeated but complete eradication of a race is never possible so there are little attacks on some warfronts that might carry on for another decade. Human world before the approach of Covenant was facing some trouble in dealing with the rebels in the colony for which Spartans were made in the first place. Then all the focus shifted to the aliens, now once again the old rebels have started to raise their heads.
Graselyn Tuwa the admiral of the fleet has been killed during such an incident and her family has gone into the wrong hands. Action is needed but first Naval Intelligence needs to investigate the matter properly so that the true culprit can be brought to light. Mission against any innocent can result in more hatred against the government. New team of the Spartans under the leadership of Veta Lopis is called for the job and it is a big trial for the team because they have to show their worth in the war now.
Troy wrote star wars too but listening to HALO: Oblivion and Halo: Silent Storm would be better because the star war concept was different from Halo. As far as the narration is concerned, Scott Brick has proved himself as an unstoppable force in the entire saga. One book after another has not tired the narrator yet and it seems that he will never get tried.
