The action gets connected with the Afghan war as David Baldacci writes a story about a soldier who went to Afghanistan for the glory of his nation. Tyler Wingo’s father was a devoted soldier and when he signed for the peace mission in Afghanistan he gave a warm hug to his son at the time of departure and said patriotic words. Now that patriotic person is dead and his son gets the sad news first. When Tyler’s father went on that uphill task the threat of destruction was always there looming on his head.
But the thing which teases Tyler is that now someone is trying to establish contact with him and he claims that he is his father. If his father is alive then the question is why he is not coming to meet him directly and why has he hid from the army. Or there is another chance that someone wants to enter the life of Tyler for some special reason. Sean and Michelle come to Tyler as he calls them for help.
They promise that they will not leave any stone unturned in the investigation. Ron McLarty through narration makes Sean look more worried as compared to Michelle. Orlagh Cassidy on the other hand goes as usual in narration. Split Second and Simple Genius was about political conspiracies and this novel establishes a link with the marines in Afghanistan. Secrets come to light and with it, the real face of many in the higher authorities is revealed. Sean and Maxwell end up with another success and there is again an increase in the number of enemies which are uncountable now.
