Many things happened at Scarlet Falls during the first part of the series in which Melinda Leigh introduced the entire surrounding for the first time. It is Cris Dukehart again in the narration so it would be like going to the next chapter of the same story. The characters and the story is different but the author has changed nothing in the background. Hannah Barrett has always tried to stand with the right kind of people.
She wanted to provide justice to everyone and she thought that she had been able to do that through her job. Then while she was in Vegas, a girl got abducted right in front of her eyes and she wasn’t able to save her. She tried hard but the criminal got away with his crime, later all Hannah could feel was guilt.
Trying to forget the thing, Hannah went to her hometown so that she could get a time out but she got horrified when she received an email from the criminal. The evil doers were actually keeping an eye on her and they are after her for sure. So she starts running and after facing some serious problems, she reaches Detective Brody who was actually busy in a serious case of his own.
Brody wanted to say no to Hannah but he wasn’t able to do that because his heart was dragging him in another direction. Seconds to Live and Dead Against Her were about harsh killings of the same type so do give those books some time as well. There is a lot in these stories which a listener would want to hear again and again.
