Pieces of Her – Karin Slaughter
“Pieces of her really” poses a question for all of us who think that we know all about our relatives and the people who live close to us in life. Andrea and her mother Laura were spending the perfect life together as they had nice chemistry between them and the mother also was always trying to give most of her time to her daughter instead of wasting it in the outside world.
Andrea too has all the respect for her mother because she is the ideal mother that any daughter can dream of. There has never been a secret between the daughter and the mother and that’s been the strength of their relationship. There is a dramatic element in the novel which beautifully changes the whole scenario of the story when Laura’s past suddenly struck her right on the face when she was in the mall one day. The drastic change in life because of an accident or revelation of something from the past is very powerfully described in the story.
Andrea for the first time in her life comes to know that her mother the yardstick of purity in her dictionary had been hiding quite a lot from her. We cannot hide or past nor we can run away from it for a long time is the basic theme of the whole story the only way we can get rid of our past problem is to open it in front of everyone and then solve it in order to end it forever, running never solves a problem it makes it more complex.
Kathleen Early’s fine narration has successfully described the emotional relationship of a mother with her daughter. For those having more passion ion reading stories like this one may also like to listen to The Regular Guy: A Nathan McNamara Story (The Soul Summoner Book 6) – Elicia Hyder.
