The House in the Cerulean Sea is a fantasy fiction, fantasy comedy, gay fiction, paranormal fiction, occult fiction, and contemporary fantasy authored by TJ Klune. It was nominated for the Goodreads Choice Awards Best Fantasy and the Audie Award for Fantasy. It was named the Chicago Tribune Best Books of the Year – 2020. Also, it got on the Amazon Best Books of the Year – 2020. Critically, it received the ALA Alex Award Winner (Adult for Young Adults), 2021.

Klune is a big name in the proper representation of the queer community. He is a Lambda Literary Award-winning author and New York Times bestseller. His novel – The Extraordinaries garnered praise from publications like Publishers Weekly. You can check out another fantasy novel by him – A Destiny of Dragons.

There is room to worry with the narration of Daniel Henning, but he doesn’t disappoint for the most part. He did a satisfactory job of coming up with the various voices of the characters. It conveyed emotion in every scene.

The House in the Cerulean Sea

This novel features the character of Linus Baker, who is a by-the-book caseworker in the Magical Youth Department. He has to figure out whether six dangerous magical children are capable of ending the world.

Athus Parnassus is the master of that orphanage and he would do anything to keep the children safe. He’s hiding some secrets that will change the face of the situation.

It is a well-written story that is a good listening experience in audio format. It is like a fairytale sprinkled with a little bit of poetry. The book is family-friendly because of the absence of sex scenes. Finally, it serves as a journey of self-discovery, something that all of us can hear from time to time.
