1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created

History is interesting if it is told in an interesting manner and with concrete facts and proper connection between the events. Charles C. Mann explores the ancient times in a way as no one has ever did. The author very skillfully deals with everything as he begins with the creation of the continents on the beginning of time and then their unification through the sea routes. It was people like Christopher Columbus who paved the way for all kinds of transportation from Europe to America that he called new world.

Not only the plants or grasses of different kind but even the rats took the tour to the other parts of the world. It is something more interesting to note as compared to the dinosaurs because it is linked with our own history. Although Columbus discovered a new route but still he failed in a big way in the main project for which he started the whole voyage.

He wanted to discover a new trade route to China that was later discovered after a span of eighty years by Legazpi and thus the whole world that split into different continents in the beginning was again united.

Even viruses and bacteria of different type travelled from one part of the world to the other. Charles also depicts the stories about the sale of cities that resulted in the change of rule for many people in those days. Robertson Dean is with the job of the narrator for this historical master piece. The tone is low and it is obvious that the narrator was not trying to overdo in any of the portions. It’s plain, simple and just marvelous piece of art.1493 1493
