Bad to the Throne – Montana Is Back and Dumber, Stronger, and More Hilariously OP Than Ever
Okay listen. LISTEN.
I been riding with Montana since book freakin’ ONE. Since the day he yeeted into that other world, butt naked, attitude loaded, stats blank. And now?? Book 15?! Bro I feel like I raised this man. Like that reckless OP cousin who always causing chaos but you love him anyway.
Bad to the Throne ain’t just a title, it’s a whole mood. Montana finally sitting on his own throne now – technically a king (or lord or baron or whatever, I keep forgetting), but still acting like a slightly buzzed bouncer with admin powers and zero filter.
And I’m here for it. ALL of it.
Montana of Coggeshall: Still Dumb. Still Dangerous. Still MY GUY.
Bro this man is a mess and I love him so much. Every book I’m like “maybe this time he’ll be mature” and then BAM – he kills something with a door. Or a chicken. Or a literal pun. I can’t.
And that’s the beauty of this series. He’s OP af, sure, but he’s not flawless. He’s funny. He’s human. He get distracted. He gets emotional. He makes dumb decisions and then beats the problem into XP.
In Book 15, now that he got a throne? Guess what—more problems. Political ones. Kingdom management. Intrigue. And you already KNOW Montana gon’ solve most of them with a mix of brute force, sarcasm, and “accidental” war crimes.
System Shenanigans & Leveling Silliness
Ain’t no LitRPG without some good stat porn. And this book DELIVERS.
Skill trees still goin’ nuts. Titles stacking up like receipts. New magic items, random class perks, passive buffs that make zero sense but feel so right. At this point Montana is a walking raid boss with plot armor and meme energy.
And the SYSTEM??? Still trolling him. Still dishing out snarky notifications that feel like a chaotic roommate roasting you mid-battle. I LIVE FOR IT.
Also side note: I would pay real money to have Neil Hellegers read Montana’s status screen updates in a podcast. Just 10 minutes of “YOU GAINED: Pain Resistance (Level 12)” with that tone and delivery? Instant serotonin.
Politics? Plots? Pfft. More Like “How to Rule a Kingdom by Accident”
So yeah, Montana’s technically a ruler now. And this book throws him deeper into kingdom biz. Bureaucrats. Tax problems. Infrastructure. Assassins. Nobles tryna play games. And what does he do?
He makes it worse, then makes it work.
Like legit, he’s the definition of “accidentally effective.” One second he’s building roads, the next he’s launching a military coup with fart jokes. And the people LOVE HIM FOR IT. I mean, same bro. Same.
Side Characters: Still Iconic, Still Unhinged
The squad is BACK, and everyone’s still a beautiful hot mess:
– Duncan out here being the straight man in a world of clowns
– Helena STILL the deadliest waifu alive
– Gary the troll… I don’t even have words, that guy is GOATed
– New characters? Just as weird, just as lovable
Their banter? On point. Their chaos? Unmatched. I want a spin-off series that’s just them trying to run a pub and failing spectacularly.
Plot? Kinda. Vibes? 100/10.
Okay let’s be real. Eric Ugland ain’t out here writing The Silmarillion. But do I care? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
The plot? Loose. The stakes? Surprisingly high. The execution? A mix of brilliance and drunken dice rolls.
But the VIBE?? The vibe is pure gamer energy. Like that one DnD campaign where the DM gave up trying to control you and just leaned in. It’s fun. It’s wild. It’s full of bad decisions and overpowered solutions.
Neil Hellegers: Once Again Carries Us to Glory
This man. THIS MAN.
Neil Hellegers IS Montana. He don’t just read the lines – he becomes the chaos. He delivers the sarcasm with military precision. The emotion with subtlety. The system voice? ICONIC.
By now, I don’t even read these books. I just wait for Neil to deliver the next audiobook like a man dying of thirst in the desert.
Final Thoughts – Bad Decisions Never Sounded So Good

Bad to the Throne is EXACTLY what I want from a LitRPG sequel:
– OP MC who still gets hurt sometimes (mostly in his pride)
– Kingdom building with zero competence but 100% vibes
– Stat menus that read like memes
– Fight scenes that are so dumb they work
– Banter, chaos, and a little accidental heart
This ain’t just book 15 – it’s proof that this series still got gas in the tank, jokes in the chamber, and XP left to grind. If you love:
– The Land but wish it cursed more
– He Who Fights With Monsters but dumber
– Skyrim mods gone wild
– Or just fun, unhinged LitRPG audiobook energy
Then bro… click play. Saddle up. And remember: ruling a kingdom is easy when you don’t read the fine print
Okay sorry for grammar and spelling I was too busy cackling and leveling up IRL from the dopamine. Tokybook crew, if you ain’t listening to The Good Guys series yet… you’re missing out on one of the most chaotic good MCs in the game.
Catch y’all in Book 16 – I’ll be there with a +10 mug of ale and zero impulse control
