Apocalypse: Regression, Book 5 – A Stat-Crunching, Monster-Smashing, Time-Bending LitRPG That SLAPS
OKAY FIRST OFF—
Bro. BRO. This series has been my gym playlist, my late-night audiobook binge, and my mental health rollercoaster since book 1. And Book 5?? This one just slammed me through the upgrade screen and left me gasping like “yo wait let me process the DAMAGE ”
Nick Gallows ain’t just fighting monsters anymore. He’s fighting time. And time??? Beating his ass lowkey.
Time = Resource AND Final Boss
So real talk? The theme of time in this book got me stressed. Every second Nick’s like “okay we got 7 days before the world ends” but then BOOM – Forebears pulling some shady stunt, dungeon’s collapsing, his guild’s under attack, and he forgot to sleep for 48 hours straight
This ain’t just leveling and loot. This is high-stakes, brain-on-fire “how do I outsmart fate itself” type of LitRPG. And the Forebears??? Creepy AF. They’re everywhere. Government? Corrupted. Society? Infiltrated. Your grandma? Probably a cultist. Trust no one.
Nick Gallows: Smart, Stubborn, Swole
Nick is the blueprint. He’s that “I died once, now I grind harder than anyone alive” kinda MC. He’s not just about power – he’s strategic. He remembers timelines. Tracks bosses. Plans guild upgrades. Dude probably has spreadsheets in his dreams. And I LOVE THAT for him
Also… the emotional weight? You feel it now. He’s got guilt. Regret. Fear. But he still pushes forward, not just for revenge – but to actually save people. And that’s what makes him feel real, even if he’s running around with legendary swords and magic stats.
Also also: Nick be ripped now. Man been hittin’ IRL weights and stat screens. Peak LitRPG body goals fr
Team Vibes: From Banter to Bloodshed
Let’s talk about the team, because the squad chemistry?? TOP. TIER.
They banter like siblings, bicker over loot drops, but when it’s go-time? SYNERGY, BABY. Tank holds, DPS slaps, healer prays and throws hands. I’m screaming like a sports fan every time they go dungeon-diving.
Also there’s real friendship vibes now. Like, they care. They got Nick’s back. You feel that loyalty building – and that means when one of them gets hurt??? BRO IT HURTS US TOO
The Endless Night: Chills. Literal Chills.
Okay. The ENDLESS NIGHT. We been hearing about this since book 1. The Big Bad Day. When demons poured out, people died, and the world said “nah we done here.” And now??? It’s coming.
And the way R.A. & Charles built this up?? Masterclass tension. Every chapter, that night creeps closer. Every dungeon feels like a countdown. And then when it HITS… bro. It’s like watching your worst nightmare in 4K ultra-violent resolution
And I’m telling you—dragons + rifts + literal flesh-hungry demons?? This is no casual “oh no the world’s ending” plot. This is “we all gon’ die screaming if Nick misses ONE cooldown” levels of pressure.
System Porn & Leveling Satisfaction = 10/10
Listen, if you’re in this series, you already love the grind. And book 5 DELIVERS. Stats, upgrades, new skills, dungeon loots, item combos – all that juicy crunchy LitRPG goodness.
Every level-up feels earned. Every point matters. And the way Nick uses his knowledge from past timelines?? Chef’s kiss. He don’t just brute-force it. He thinks. And when he finally unlocks a new ability??? I was clapping like a proud gamer dad.
Also: the GUILD system is getting so good now. Bases. Roles. Reputation. It’s not just “me vs world” anymore. It’s “me and my people building something to stop it.” That shift? LOVE IT.
Forebears of Ingenga = Nightmare Fuel
Bro… these villains
I thought cults in RPGs were just annoying side-quests. But Ingenga? They on some end-of-days, burn-it-all-down, whisper-in-your-dreams type beat. And they got reach. Like… political, magical, spiritual reach.
They play the long game. They manipulate. And worst part? They believe in what they’re doing. And that makes them scary as hell. Every time they show up, I’m like “WHO GONNA DIE THIS TIME?!”
Narration: Daniel + Elizabeth = Epic Duo Combo
Let’s give flowers where they due
Daniel Wisniewski? Perfect Nick voice. Cool under pressure. Snarky when needed. Serious when it counts. He is this character now.
Elizabeth Plant brings the rest of the cast to life – especially the female teammates, side characters, and the occasional creepy-ass Forebear whisper. Her range?? On point.
The dual narration adds depth. It keeps things dynamic. It makes the intense moments hit harder. Honestly? This series wouldn’t feel the same without these two killing it every book.
Final Thoughts – Apocalypse Incoming, and I’m HERE FOR IT

Book 5 of Apocalypse: Regression? An absolute banger. You want: – Dungeons with real danger
– Smart characters with strong morals and even stronger weapons
– Time-loop apocalypse stress
– Epic guild building
– Stat grind that slaps
– Cults you actually fear
Then fam. FAM. LISTEN TO THIS. IMMEDIATELY. Don’t even finish this review. Just hit play and dive in headfirst. The world is ending and Nick Gallows is our only hope – and I believe in him with my whole stat screen.
Anyway, sorry for my grammar I got too hype Tokybook fam, if you love LitRPG that ain’t afraid to go hard, then this is your series. I’m counting the days ‘til Book 6.
Somebody drop a health potion. I need a long rest fr
Til next time… may your crits be high and your cooldowns low.
