Janet Evanovich pairs up with another superb writer Phoef Sutton for the creation of the first part of the series of legends. Lorelei King is selected for the narration which is not a bad choice after all because the person is skilled in this kind of stuff and is polished over the years in many different ways. So, one thing is for sure that if you are getting this book for listening than there would be no loose ends from the author and narrator’s side.
Emerson Knight and Riley Moon are introduced for the first time in this part; the two really showed the talent that they had in Dangerous Minds the second part of the series. Emerson Knight is someone who cannot fit in any place in the world, the one with boyish looks cannot make a social circle of his own.
Luckily he inherited a large property and that has made life quite easy for him. He does not meet people but the people around are always trying to enter his social gatherings. Riley Moon has known Emerson since childhood and she gets a job to look after the handsomely looking millionaire.
Looking after Emerson means taking care of huge property, his bank accounts that have been losing money with no trace. Huge amounts have been transacted and even the gold is missing now, Riley is sure that now she is on to serious business now. Someone is playing big without being noticed. A desperate run on the streets of Washington DC and a wild ghost chase at first until the Harvard graduate, Riley starts getting the clues that she needed.
