The introduction of the book is brilliant where at the start of the story we are told that the book does not deal with serious science fiction stuff thus we make ourselves prepared that we would be dealing with odd science fiction stuff that would be less serious of course as the story goes on. The book is the second part of the Magic series by Scott Meyer. Our hero the American hacker Martin Banks this time takes all the things to the next level as he tries to make himself skilled in reality altering art.
Martin is in a dejected state right from the word go because he lost his love, Gwen who left hem and got settled in Atlantis under the kind control of the Sorceresses who is always there for the help of female time travelers, she not only welcomes them but also protects them till they are in her domain. Thus Martin at first thought that he had lost the love of his life forever but the writer has used brilliantly the technique of chance and coincidence because of which Martin get a chance to go to Atlantis on a summit which provides him the much-needed doorway into Atlantis.
This last chance to win back Gwen is everything for him but again Martin by fate is always surrounded by threats, murders, and mysteries that usually ruin his personal life most of the time. Luke Daniels has done a nice job in the narration department which was not an easy task once you are told that the story should remain in a comic mode even when there are murder and mystery in it.
Kids who loved this story also liked to listen to Off to Be the Wizard, Out of Spite, Out of Mind and An Unwelcome Quest which are good reads for the kids of all ages.
