As the fourth book in the Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone series, The Born Queen is filled with love, adventure, and magic, all set on the background of the ancient and clashing empire. Blair King is long dead, and Aspar White must take a long journey to help save his people from annihilation. The author Greg Keyes has once again gathered his strands of character and plot into a dramatic climax that complements the storyline from the beginning.
If you’ve been following the Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone series, you will be familiar with the characters by now. And there are also few additions of interesting characters as well.
The book had some interesting villain and a good pace about it that makes readers want to see what’s next in store for them. Greg Keyes has, once again, showed why he is a true master of fiction series with this third book in the blockbuster Thorn and Bone series.
Although the book is a bit long (more than 2,000 pages), the author makes every chapter very intriguing for readers, just like he did in Lord of Souls. The way the suspense in the book is structured, you will want to know what’s going to happen in the next chapter. And when it comes to the voicing of characters, Patrick Michael really did an excellent job. He continued in his perfect representation of characters with proper diction.
There’s no misplaced voice or narration of both the old and new characters. If you’ve read the previous books in the series, you will recognize the characters by hearing their voice alone. No introduction is needed. And when it comes to their character roles, it’s easy to recognize who are the heroes and villains in the book.
If you are a lover of magic and adventure series, you will enjoy every part of this book.
