John Dann MacDonald was a renowned American writer who has written many successful short stories and full fledge novels as well. He is particularly known for his thrillers and has many masterpieces that revolves around suspense and crime related storylines. The majority of such novels by him are set in Florida in his adopted home.
The Deep Blue Good-By is one such phenomenal mystery thriller with lots of spine-chilling suspense. The book is also chapter 1 of an amazing series with the title of Travis McGee. Few of his other credible works include Nightmare in Pink and A Purple Place for Dying. Both these recommended novels from the author are actually part 2 and part 3 of the same Travis McGee novel series. Yu will definitely have a good time if you read these novels in the same sequence.
Robert Petkoff has done the narration of this crime fiction novel. He did a fine job with almost all the characters that he played in this chapter. There is absolutely nothing to complaint about anything including his attitude, tone, expression and accent.
He is a self-described type of a beach bum who was able to win an amazing houseboat in a game of cards. He is also someone knows as a knight errant who is quite wary of credit cards, political parties, retirement benefits, mortgages and TV. He only works at those times when he runs out of cash. His rule in life is simple: he will support you in finding anything that was taken away from you but as long as he could keep half of the share.
A must listen novel which will push you to read continuously in this 21-chapter crime mystery saga.
I will bet not too many people listen to this series but it’s well worth the listen! It is the Travis Mcgee Series written by John Dann MacDonald better known as J. D. MacDonald. Great Detective/Suspense/Thriller genre. The writing is far superior to most in this genre. Back when writers really could write. Highly recommended. Thank you Tokybook for making this series available.
