American Dirt (Oprah’s Book Club)-A Novel
Praised by Stephen King the book is bound to appeal you if you like thrilling tales with chilling twists and turns. Jeanine Cummins is a real show stopper if discussed in reference to this particular novel. A strong woman with a good healthy life is the apparent picture of Lydia Quixano Perez who lives in Acapulco.
The only son that she has is the darling she cares more than anything, and then she cannot deny the love that her husband has for her. Her husband is the town’s famous journalist, thus the life is well arranged and everything managed. Still one issue remains a drug cartel is strengthening its hold on her city.
Her family has no connection or association to all of this so she does not have to worry. Then on a routine day their lives are dragged to hell when the husband prints everything about Javier the one who has taken over the whole town. The family comes under the cloud after that as they are not allowed to live in their old town anymore.
Death haunts the family in the morning even and they decide to flee elsewhere with their eight year old son. The family moves to north but think that running is not just enough for the trouble that they face.
Yareli Arizmendi narrates the drug cartel issue in an intensely serious tone to make the nation realize what the Maxican people are really dealing with. The unchecked crime is eating up the states from their roots and the locals have to leave their properties to save their family and what is left of their future.
