Gardens of the Moon is an epic science fiction fantasy. It is part 1 of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, which turned out to be a super exciting series for the audience. The narration of Gardens of the Moon is done by Ralph Lister and he was returned with some amazing and encouraging reviews from the audience for his awesome performance.
The book is written by Steven Erikson, who is a fine fictional writer with many quality books under his belt. Memories of Ice is one good book out of many that showed the caliber of Steven Erikson as a writer.
Deadhouse Gates is another one from the writer that is equally brilliant and deserves to be listened nonstop with some fantastic audio performance.
The story in this novel is set in and around the Mazalan Empire, which is gradually simmering with discontent. It has experienced bitter infighting, interminable warfare and then the bloody confrontations with the implacable and the ancient sorcerers.
The imperial legions too have been involved in the bloodshed and they are the ones who yearn for having some respite. Still, the rule of the Empress Laseen remains absolute and was actually enforced by the Claw assassins.
Sergeant Whiskeyjack along with his Bridgeburners squad in the aftermath should have got the time to mourn the death of many of their men. The last one of the Free Cities, Darujhistan still holds out.
However, the one good thing is that the Empire is not at all alone in this great game going on. The sinister and the shadowbound forces are merging together just as the gods themselves get ready for the sake of playing their own hand.
