The Dark Hours is a genre-fiction novel. It is the 23rd book in the Harry Bosch novel series which is written by Michael Connelly. He is a world-class author of mystery thrillers who has given plenty of successful novels in the genre. One of them is The Late Show and another good one from Connelly is The Last Coyote: Harry Bosch Series, Book 4.

The audio narration of The Dark Hours is done by Titus Welliver and Christine Lakin. The female narrator chosen for the character of Renee Ballard was not that good.

The countdown of New Year’s Eve was nearing and there was all chaos in Hollywood. Renee Ballard, the LAPD detective was working in her graveyard shift. She waited on for the usual rain of leads as countless revelers reportedly shot guns in the air. Just a few minutes after midnight, Renee Ballard was summoned to a crime scene where an owner of an auto shop was hit by a bullet. He was somewhere in between a crowded street party.

    The Dark Hours

Renee was quick to determine that the bullet is linked to some other mystery murder case that was still unsolved. That was a case that Harry Bosch investigated once. Renee at the same time hunted a pair of serial rapists. Those were the Midnight Men who were terrorizing women across and were leaving no trace behind at all.

Renee was determined to solve both of these cases. The situation demanded her to call in Harry Bosch as he was one detective she could count on.

The Dark Hours is another masterpiece from Michael Connelly. The random selection of a new narrator to play a female character didn’t work for this novel.
