The concept of realms is retold in the story and that too in a brilliant way that makes the book interesting for the people of all ages. The story possesses magic and a sense of suspense is there which makes us interested in each scene of the novel.
Richard Baker describes the richness of Marchwood forest with a nice selection of the words. Aeron the main character of the whole story is followed by the dangerous storm walker who plays with this human in so many ways, Firstly, by rescuing him at different spots and then torturing him after that just for the sake of fun and nothing else.
The emergence of magical powers in characters is a sure fun to watch when a common man who knows nothing about magic starts having the feeling that he can use magic that was always there in his bones and he emerges not only as a magician but a powerful one the one we hear about in legends and folktales.
Aeron proves to be the only hope for the future of Faern which slowly starts to go in the hands of the evil force that seeks to have everything in its paw. Kyle McCarley’s narration also provides an extra spice to the whole tale as it blends nicely with the situation and each word of the story is nicely uttered in a listenable and understandable tone.
The rise and fall in the narrator’s voice show the sudden rise and fall of the feelings and also it depicts the intensity of the situation that the writer wanted to convey to the readers of the book. Among such a fantasy novel, there are other books in the thriller, suspense, and fantasy genre including Pieces of Her – Karin Slaughter and the Killing Mr. Griffin – Lois Duncan for more suspense based stories.
