The First Husband is a genre fiction novel by Laura Dave. She is a prolific fiction novel author from the USA. She gave us several excellent genre fiction novels where The Last Thing He Told Me is one of them. You will also love her work in her debut title which is London Is the Best City in America.

The audio narration of The First Husband novel is done by Elizabeth Klett. It was an annoying performance that never showed any signs of improvement throughout this book.

Annie was only a few days away from celebrating her 32nd birthday. At that time, she thought that she had finally found some sort of happiness in her life. She visited a few of the most exciting places in the world. She traveled that much for her syndicated travel column. She was also cohabiting happily with Nick her boyfriend who was also a movie director.

Nick one day came back home after having a meeting with his therapist and he told that he is looking to take an indefinite break from their relationship. He asked that as he wanted to pursue a lady from his past. The happy life of Annie and the place she used to call her home got shattered all of a sudden.

    The First Husband

Annie was struggling a lot after that with her emotions. In that situation, she stumbled into a bar in her neighborhood. There she was introduced to Griffin. He was a very charming, handsome, and grounded guy. He worked as a chef there and he appeared to be everything that Annie always wanted to have in a guy. He became Annie’s husband in the next three months and she discovered herself rebooting her life in the rural area of Massachusetts.

The main issue with this novel is the narration. The narrator had a very rigid and annoying tone. Moreover, there were issues where ‘he’ was wrongly used instead of ‘she’ and vice versa.
