Mitch Albom has not narrated this book on his own because of the multiple characters present in the novel. The author has taken the help of other narrators like Paul Stanley and George Guidall. This novel is not based on philosophies that we observed in Have a Little Faith and The Five People You Meet in Heaven.
It is about Frankie Presto who became an orphan during the war and then was taken in by a music teacher who was blind. Frankie reached America in terrible circumstances and he had a guitar as his sole possession. The six strings of the guitar had a strange kind of magic in them. Frankie started working in the music industry and there he got the fame that he never dreamed of. Quickly he transformed himself into a rock star too.
At this stage of his life, he realized that his music was able to change the life of the people as well. Whenever life was changed, one of the strings of his guitar used to turn blue. Frankie thinks that he had too much fame also he didn’t want to change the life of a human being anymore. So he just left everything and disappeared from the scene when he was in demand. People searched for this legend for a long time but he was nowhere to be found.
Then years later, he came up to the scene once again to change one last life with the last magical string that had not turned blue yet. The story has its surprises but the author prepares the mind of the listener first before presenting those surprises.
