Michael Connelly gets started here with a fine suspense mystery thriller series by the name of Jack McEvoy. The Poet is the first installment of this series. Buck Schirner is the narrator of this novel, who was awesome with his tonal quality and expressive voice.
With the success of four Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly, he managed to join the top tier of crime writers of the new generation as per Los Angeles Times. This time, the author returns to the audience with his most searing mystery thriller yet.
The hero of this novel is Jack McEvoy who is a news reporter on crime beat. Jack has a twin brother as well who is a homicide detective based in Denver. He has just killed himself, which was what it apparently looked. But, just when Jack started the investigation of his twin brother killing, some very disturbing facts surfaced up.
He didn’t took long to conclude that a brutal serial murderer is at work. He is a devious cop, who has left a trail of many suicide notes, which are drawn the Edgar Allan Poe’s poems. The story here in the novel is of a lifetime, except that the “Poet” already knows apparently that Jack is testing him.
The story is a definite proof of Michael Connelly being a top suspense writer today.
