Maureen Johnson is a fine novelist, who has produced some really excellent novels in the crime mystery genre. The Vanishing Stair is one such attempt, where she left her fans mesmerized with a great story. The Vanishing Stair is the 2nd book of the Truly Devious novel series by the author. Kate Rudd once again comes with her expressive voice and soulful tone for giving an excellent performance as the narrator of this novel.

The Truly Devious series or the crime case is about the unsolved kidnapping that also involves triple murder, which completely rocked the Ellingham Academy of Albert Ellingham in 1936. This was the same time when Stevie came to the academy in order to find answers for such a mysterious case. Soon, she found her classmate got murdered as well and Stevie parents in no time got her out of that school. This was just for the sake of her own safety, as they said. They also wanted that Stevie should get over with her obsession with criminal cases.

    The Vanishing Stair

On the other end, Stevie was determined to do anything in order to get back to her beloved Ellingham Academy and to rejoin her friends, and most importantly, to solve the cold Truly Devious kidnapping and murder case. She was determined to go to any extreme, even if it asks for making a deal with the Edward King, Senator.

Truly Devious is the first chapter of the series with the same name and the same author. It is a must read, which will develop your more interest to get through the other chapters of this series. Moreover, you should also check out the Ghosts of the Shadow Market novel, written by Maureen Johnson.
