The story is about the Marsh girl in the North Carolina in 1969. The person named Chase Andrews is found dead and people say that the Marsh girl who’s actual name is Kaya Clark has done all this evil. The beauty of wilderness has been described beautifully just as the author has done in the book The Eye of the Elephant.
But that is totally opposite to what personality Kaya has herself. She is quiet, sensitive and very kind and have always stayed in peace harming nobody nearby or anyone who is there with her.
Though she is still a mystery soon she will be found by the 2 men who will be inspired by her wild beauty but despite the fact that she is ready to embrace her new life the other secrets of life becomes visible and that will surely affect her in the future.
The novel is a perfect mix and match of the feelings, emotions and thoughts balanced by haunting events and happenings that make it even more interesting and you can never escape before listening till the end of the novel.
Where the Crawdads Sing tells the fictional story of Kya, a girl left to raise herself along a North Carolina bayou in the 1950s and 60s. “The marsh girl,” as she’s known, is reviled and shunned by those in the nearby town. In time, Kya is put on trial for murder. Now, there’s a film adapted from the novel by an author with a mysterious past.
I JUST WANT TO LISTEN TO THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you watched the movie on Netflix?
Yes
Thank you so much, this was the only place I could find the recording. You really helped me through the book.
Kya’s Childhood
As with any book-to-screen adaptation, some of the novel’s more detailed story lines must be condensed. The section that gets the most chopping is Kya’s childhood, which takes up several chapters in the book but only about 20 minutes of the movie. This means much of the context for Ma’s (Ahna O’Reilly) exodus from her family, and the abuse by Pa (Garret Dillahunt) that forces all of his children but young Kya (Jojo Regina) to leave, is erased.
As the book explains, the couple’s marriage was ravaged by the Great Depression, which led to Pa’s gambling addiction and alcoholism. The film doesn’t provide a reason for Pa’s abusive nature, nor does it flesh out the close-knit bond Kya shares with her older brother Jodie (Will Bundon). Kya’s arrest in the murder of Chase Andrews also happens far earlier in the movie, which frames her childhood anecdotes as flashbacks told to her lawyer (David Strathairn) rather than its own segment.
I watched the movie yesterday. Love the story! Now I’m going to lisent to the book. Thank you so so much!!
