Philip Stevens narrates the second installment in a much more energetic style because things are heated up in this episode. Sigurd lost everything in the first episode God of Vengeance but he didn’t lose hope at all. His heart was full of vengeance and he wanted to teach the enemy a lesson at all costs. He was not worried about his life and that was the key to everything. Though Sigurd has remained unbeaten on all the occasions he is yet to prove his worth against the king.
King Gorm whom Sigurd now calls the oathbreaker is still sitting on his thrown and he is a tough competitor for sure. Although Sigurd has a lot of friends and allies still they are not strong enough to contest the rule of the king in an open battle. The king is still so powerful that he can crush all of them in a single moment of fury.
So instead of going towards the battlefield, Sigurd and his friends go in search of the spear of Odin i.e a powerful weapon that can finally get the job done. The weapon not only holds a lot of power but it also infuses a new spirit in the rebels. More and more allies join Sigurd after he gets hold of the spear of Odin.
Giles Kristian has introduced the hero as a legend in the making in this second book. The Rise of Sigurd is an awesome series for sure and the real fun basically starts from this part. However, leaving the first part is also not a very good idea because the making and rising of the hero are portrayed there.
