Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn on the royal command once again join forces for a mission which would prove far more important for them than they actually think. They are still the best rivals when it comes to getting the favor of the king. They want to gain the favor of the king at any rate and because of this they finally agree to join hand with one another through their hearts are still not on the same page.
They have been on battles and missions together but this time it is something related to their pasts as well. The go to the unknown regions of Batuu where the threat is not supposed to be of great nature and ordinary agents good have looked into the matter and there was not a dire need of ruthless and strategist agents like Vader and Thrawn.
Emperor Palpatine’s command still sends them in to investigate general Anakin’s hidden agenda which a sort of personal quest that is not known to anyone. Both the heroes are joined by fate this time as they are left with no solution instead of helping one another in order to save their lives and to deliver the important news to the king about the hidden desires of the enemies.
The story is well-knit to the past and of the characters as they once again join hands for the planet for which they have fought before but this time they are confronting an enemy which is too powerful to handle even by their combined powers. Timothy Zahn in the second book of the star war series beautifully describes the union of two characters who are destined to set apart at the end as they are made for rivalry. Marc Thompson narrates the whole thing in a perfect manner and keeps the intensity and drama of the tale alive.
The book creates an array of impactful events just like Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (20th Anniversary Edition), The Thrawn Trilogy, Book 1.
