Cold Waters is a super engaging crime mystery novel with awesome suspense to enjoy. It is written by Debbie Herbert. The narration of this thriller is a team work effort between Megan Tusing, Sophie Amoss, Eric G. Dove and Shannon McManus. The book also marks the first installment of Normal, Alabama novel series.
The story of this novel is about murder and immense madness that is set in gloomiest corner of Alabama.
Everyone was of the opinion that Violet, the 14 year old little girl is actually a murderer. After a swim stint in one of the fine nights of summer along with her dearest friend Ainsley, Violet is found puzzled and wandering purposelessly in the forest area nearby. Ainsley after that was never seen again by anyone. But, murder charges wouldn’t be applicable if the dead body is not found. Therefore, Violet is sent away.
After a period of 10 years or so spending in one of the psychiatric ward, she (Violet) returns back to her old and broken hometown in Normal, Alabama. She is there in the town to make claim for her inheritance from her mother and also to help her struggling sister care for their alcoholic and unstable father. Violet was still not able to forget that horrific summer night some 11 years ago. She used to get all those horrific flashbacks and hallucinations of that incident, while the residents of the town spit all the charges on her.
Debbie Herbert is a fine writer when it comes to producing her best in the mystery fiction genre. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to explore more of her novels, where the recommended ones are: Siren’s Secret and Bayou Shadow Hunter.
