Nothing was in the right place for the heroes in the previous parts. Especially when the winter approached in Cursed Bones , there was hopelessness along with the snow. Alexander has remained active and fully charged up sort of a guy in all the parts but in the last part he looked quite broken. Still the zeal to rule was there in his heart and his mind was working properly under the devastated circumstances. The allies needed some support and hope about the spring which was provided by none other than Alexander once again. Spring has finally arrived on the land and most of the heroes have been able to survive till these bright days.
Dragon Isle proved to be of great support for Alexander and at the approach of spring he decides to leave the place. Decision of leaving the Dragon Isle is not made in haste but the decision does not prove to be good. Alexander finds himself surrounded by enemies from all sides. While running for his life, Alexander lands in the enemy’s territory after his ship gets rattled. There the enemies decide to make him a slave instead of getting rid of him permanently. Sold as a slave in the city of Mithel Dour, Alexander sees a different side of life which he never hoped to see.
Author David A. Wells throws Alexander in trouble just like in Blood of the Earth and then brings him closer to an ancient secret which he never knew existed in the world. Derek Perkins has brought some changes in the voice at this point to make the narration look more enthusiastic. The trick of the narrator has worked quite fine without any doubt.
