Gabriel Garcia Marquez takes out his pen and paints everything that was in his mind whether it was war, love, lust or the stories about life and death the book has it all. The blend is not the type that you start to give a tiring glance towards it; the listener enjoys the progress of the story along with the sensational scenes and dialogues that too are rightly placed. Macondo the mythical town is the central place where all the action happens related to Buendia family.
The town is going down and with it the people in it, still they strive and struggle for survival in their own ways. The concept of life and death along with the concepts about youth and old age lead the way in the novel. Latin America is described in a glorious way along with the trends that were usually there in that era.
Politics of Latin America is the oddest thing that the listener can hear about because we cannot expect such things in those days with the rivalries involved as well. Everything about the book is wonderful just like Love in the Time of Cholera. No weakness is ever detected in any portion along with the narration by John Lee whose commitment can never be doubted.
No matter what the subject matter is John Lee is up to it in a flash, settling the voice according to the situation is his master stroke. There is no mystery involved although the title is such that we can expect some mysterious things but nothing of that sort is there. The story is in the narrative form and explanations are there which increase the length but still it is comfortable work.
Thanks. How’s about- His Lost manuscript = Until August 2024 please
