When Susan Duerden started narrating her first book written by Julie Garwood, there was a notion that perhaps the narrator will not be able to handle the flow. Later the people really appreciated the way Susan dealt with the story and now she is the one who has narrated Julie’s stories more than any other narrator. The story shifts the audience to the era when Richard the Lionhearted died all of a sudden after which chaos was everywhere to be seen.
The king of England started taking advantage of the situation and there was bloodshed and looting scene all around. Gillian was just a child when his house was attacked by Baron Alford who wanted a box of jewels that was in possession of the family. One by one, Alford killed each member of Gillian’s family and finally retrieved the treasure.
Gillian was able to escape because she was a little kid and no one paid attention to her. Later the treasure box was lost by Alford and this made him more furious. Gillian left everything aside in her life and started preparing for revenge on Alford. Later in the story, the girl took the help of two warriors who provided her the power to bring down the rule of her enemy.
In the process of doing so, she also fell in love with one of the warriors and this started a new kind of war that she never prepared for. Fast Track and The Wedding also reminded us about the past but here the author has told about the exact era as she has mentioned the name of the two kings of the time in the story.
