Rachel Hollis’ writing and voice is the real deal for the girls of the present era who are ambitious and want a rise in status and salary at the same time. The first book of the series was a real success and in Party Girl no doubt we saw the rising of a girl but at the same time the price that she had to pay for it.
One thing was still positive that the girl was trying to remain true to herself no matter what the circumstances were. This time we meet Max Jennings who is always in a bad mood not because she is annoyed with anyone but because of the fact that she had a terrible past. She doesn’t want to talk to anyone about it that’s why no one knows anything about her.
Max’s only dream was to become a chef and she thinks that she possesses the ability to bake the best of the pastries. Suddenly in her rather sad life the chance appears from nowhere when she gets a chance to work with the famous Avis Phillips.
Finally she gets an opportunity to forget everything about her past and get mixed in the field that she always wanted to join. She gets mixed in the stuff like baking brownies and then she mix once again in thing that she hated. She starts establishing relation with the man whom she avoided for many years. She never wanted that thing to happen but now she was unable to so no to the temptation.
The novel is full of mixed emotions about work and also about personal relationship that the main character is reluctant to develop.
