In this riveting novel, you will find the life of Harry Bosch on the edge. His house damaged due to the earthquake has been condemned. He is alone after his girlfriend left him and this made him an alcoholic. After attacking his commanding officer, he even had to return his detective badge of LAPD. He is now suspended indefinitely and waiting for a psychiatric evaluation ordered by his department. He is spending his troubled time investigating an old crime from 1961. It was about the brutal killing of a prostitute who was his real mother. The question raised by harry Bosch even after three decades is big enough to generate some strong heat in the top politicos of LA. But, soon, the truth starts to emerge.
The novel is capable of grabbing your attention right from the start and it will shake you once it progresses and eventually makes you feel great about it. Michael Connelly is absolutely at his top writing form in this novel and the performance of Dick Hill was even more inspiring from his other performances in the same Harry Bosch novel series.
