Kate Reading grabs another opportunity with both hands to perform in this novel. She managed to do full justice to her role and gave a memorable performance to the followers of the Scarpetta novel series.

You will find Scarpetta in this chapter investigating a murder under a grand jury. She had a good idea that she was dragged into it and being framed. She lost trust and was not able to trust anybody due to the prevailing situation around her.

Scarpetta was psychologically and physically bruised due to her encounter with Chandonne, the killer. She had no choice other than to leave her home at the mercy of the police team who was investigating the attack. She finds her new home at Anna Zenner’s place who was an old friend.

The Last Precinct

But, soon she discovered that Anna herself was summoned to appear before the grand jury to investigate Scarpetta for the murder. Kay was fully aware that this was a trap against her.

The book comes with a bone-chilling mystery story. You will feel for the struggles of Scarpetta who is framed for a murder which she never committed.
