The Sentence Is Death:A Novel

Anthony Horowitz is a quality English writer who specializes mainly in the suspense and mystery genre. He has a good name and repute among teens and young adult readers and listeners. The Sentence Is Death is a suspenseful mystery thriller. It is chapter 2 of the Detective Daniel Hawthorne novel series. A few of the successful other novels written by Anthony Horowitz are Moonflower Murders and The House of Silk.

Rory Kinnear is the narrator of The Sentence Is Death’s audio version. The performance was not up to the work as the listeners were getting annoyed with a few vocal gestures that were especially used for the women characters in the novel.

There were some last recorded words heard from a celebrity divorce lawyer. His name was Richard Pryce and he was found dead in his bachelor pad along with a very expensive bottle of wine. It was quite odd to see this as Richard was not known for drinking at all. The questions around this murder were that why this bottle was found and why he said “You shouldn’t be here and it is too late”, which was recorded. And, the most important question was that which of the enemies of the man did this deed?

The Sentence Is Death

The police had no choice but to bring in Daniel Hawthorne, a private investigator along with his sidekick, Anthony Horowitz to take charge of the investigation. The pair was getting quite good with the investigations of murder but this case was quite challenging.

The book is excellent for its plot and characters. Anthony Horowitz has done a brilliant job within his role. The narration however had a lot of room for improvement.
