Michael Talbot after a lifetime spent in wars and fights cannot get the job done, he makes new friends along with unwanted allies but the forces that the deal with are really mighty. Nothing is impossible in this world but here the quote is losing its grip from the human mind. They have tried everything, fighting back, running away, inventing new methods and then stealing alien technology but nothing went right.
It is like facing a monster of destruction that has no head that you can squeeze, only deadly fangs that capture even the souls of its enemies. Hell of a wars decorated the chapter like Into the Fire and From The Ashes but it is now teasing the minds that none of those heroic activities had a decisive conclusion. Heroes emerged and villains evolved but none has succeeded to accomplish goals that have in mind for so long.
Some think that there is nothing to resist for anymore and those who are trying are making their lives more tragic. Developing frustration can be read on the mind of Mike the way he talks to his best friend and he has been doing the same thing since the Beth issue. Perhaps he is the only one who can be used for catharsis and he is put there by Mark Tufo top let loose the tensions of the hero.
Again this is a little injustice to the secondary character and this has been the pattern of the author and we can tell that he does this intentionally. Narration is handled well by Sean Runnette and his abilities are unquestionable at this point.
