Like the first part of the series, this one is also a tremendous hit from the beginning, and we can surely feel it with our hearts. In the first part of the series, we saw the doom of the human race as the virus spread and more and more people became blood-sucking parasites. The Vampire Queen brought hell over the human world and blotted the sun, allowing the vampires to roam free even during the day because there was no day anymore.
The humans tried to fight, but they failed and decided to find safe shelters to remain alive and wait for the right time to pounce back. Darcy brought hope for humanity and herself as she found the medieval castle a safe shelter for everyone. Darcy has a score to settle with the queen, who has broken the bond between Darcy and her sister. Darcy is still looking for her and thinks it is the right time to start searching for her again.
The enemy has not attacked for the past six months, and it seems that the war is over, or perhaps the enemy does not know that humans are still present in the face of the world. The winter has become so severe that one can get buried in the snow if he does not go on. Darcy has decided to go back in the open again because she wants to find her sister, and Hope is quite worried because of the decision. Hope thinks staying in the closet-like castle would be nice for some more time, but Darcy does not agree. One day Darcy goes out without any support, and Hope is left with no other option except to go after her to save her from the wrath of the Vampire King. Impact Winter is the book from where Travis Beacham started the show, and it has moved to this part quite smoothly.
Remember that this series is written for a mature audience, and the kids of the house mind cannot understand certain mature themes or language which the author has opted for in this series. The journey will not allow you to rest anywhere, and it is a good thing because no one wants to stop when the journey is so interesting. The narrators are once again in a group form, much like the first episode, and it is good that these voices do not create a fuss; rather, every narrator has tried to keep their voice separate from the others. There is another book name Armageddon which is not part of the series, but it can be kept as a separate choice by those who want to keep on listening to the same genre in which the human race fight for its survival and is ready to turn the tables or die trying.
The dark is rising, or perhaps it has already taken over, and overthrowing the rule of the evil queen will take more lives. The remaining humans will not yield no matter what happens, but first, they have to take care of the sun, which has stopped providing the one thing it has in abundance, i.e. light. Once the sun is out, the rule of the vampires and the winter will end simultaneously. Darcy is focused on her sister first and thinks the rest can be dealt with later.
