Predator’s Gold novel opened new horizons for the excited audience of the Mortal Engines novel series. It is the 2nd chapter in the series and the Philip Reeve, the author managed to maintain the momentum that he built in the opening chapter. The author has set some great examples among his contemporaries with splendid writing in other novels like Infernal Devices and Mortal Engines. The mentioned novels did well for the author and definitely the best that he has produced so far.
Predator’s Gold in its audiobook version is as good as it was in the hardcopy print version. You will get to hear the outstanding audio performance in the voice of Barnaby Edwards. Just as the first chapter, the narrator managed to maintain his spectacular voice with inspiring expression and tonal quality.
The icy Traction City offers sanctuary when the scrapyard aircraft of Tom and Hester was chased by the gunships. The gunships then were firing rockets and it was a terrifying scene. But that by no means is a safe refuge. The Anchorage on the other end are moving towards the Dead Continent after being confounded by epidemic and troubled by the presence of ghosts.
The novel overall is great and clearly demonstrates the geniuses of Philip Reeve. However, in the middle of the story, some misunderstanding related to Trope made the audience struggle a bit. Some of the characters in the middle had a completely unnecessary conflict, which the author needs to work around in order to get the plot back on track. Therefore, read or listen throughout this overall exciting novel in audiobook and then have something to comment about it.
