For her, Poland was a part of her soul and a place she always remembered, especially when she was far from her homeland. So, she had a deep affection for her home country. Even when she discovered the first chemical element during her research, she named it polonium, which means “Polish” in honor of her roots. Marie Curie achieved remarkable success in her research, evidenced by winning two Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry. She is an iconic figure in human history and the first woman to receive such prestigious awards, greatly admired by scientists around the world.
Ada Lovelace

Ada Lovelace was a scientist with innate knowledge and skills in the field of computer science. She was the first person to discover algorithms during her computer research. While conducting her research, she documented programming information related to analytical engines. Thanks to her research, she laid the foundation for Charles Babbage, the father of the computer, to propose and use the world’s first programmable computer algorithm. Katalin Kariko hails from an ordinary merchant family in a small town about 150 kilometers east of Budapest. She has dreamt of becoming a scientist in the field of biochemistry since she was young. This dream led her to the University of Szeged, where she focused on researching biological and chemical issues to make groundbreaking discoveries for the betterment of healthcare. Her recent research on messenger RNA (mRNA) has been exceptionally successful, contributing significantly to humanity during the COVID-19 pandemic with two specialized vaccines.
Due to her remarkable achievements, in January 2022, in Vietnam, Katalin Kariko, along with her colleagues Drew Weissman and Pieter R. Cullis, received a $3 million award from the VinFuture Foundation. Her contributions will be remembered by humanity for generations to come.
