Dark Promises is the 29th chapter in the grand Dark novel series. It is written by Christine Feehan who is known for her brilliant work in the romance fantasy genre. Some of her credible books include the likes of Shadow Flight and Desolation Road novels.
Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross are the narrators of Dark Promises. For their part, they did a good job where listeners had no complaint whatsoever.
Gabrielle has fought quite enough battles of seeing the man who she has engaged with. He nearly loses his life and that too at a time, when it was not even his fight. Once Gary used to be a gentle human researcher but now he is a fearless Carpathian warrior having the blood of the olden ancestry flowing through his veins. Gabrielle still needs a man and dreams to be with him with every single breath that she takes. She desperately wanted to have a life which is far away from the mountains of Carpathian and also far away from the vampires. But, Gabrielle in no time learns that all the promises that were made in the dark could possibly tear the heart like a dagger.
The storyline was highly disappointing. Some of the diehard fans of Christine Feehan doubted if she is herself writing these later stories or has she outsourced it to somebody else. There is a definite dip noticed towards the later chapters of the Dark series which were definitely missing the story for which the author is known for. It is probably because the author herself has raised the bar quite high and the audience expect something great all the time.
