Michael Connelly joins the two big forces of the story world Renee Ballard and Harry Bosch for a single mission which needs their full concentration and cooperation. Their coexistence is perhaps the toughest thing for both of them as they have never worked as a team before and both possess a dominating character, most importantly both of the detectives do not trust anyone completely not even each other.
The story is a pure thriller and a murder mystery which Harry Bosch wants to solve for the last fifteen years and yet he has got no proper clue to solve the case of the murdered girl named Daisy Clayton. The case has captured Harry’s mind so much that he cannot think of anything else. Harry asks for Renee’s help in this tough situation for which she agreed at first but the case takes dangerous turns making it threatening for both the heroes and there always remain a question in their minds that whether all their hard work really has the worth or they are just wasting their time on a fifteen-year-old case that has no lead at all.
The terror surely enhances with each turn and it can be considered a novel for the adults only as there are murder tales along with suspicions. Christine Lakin, Titus Welliver has narrated well as one has narrated Harry and the other has acted as Renee. Both the narrators also have shown a nice chemistry between one another and no doubt they have helped things a lot in the novel and have made it more appealing, energetic and understandable for the listeners.
