The LAPD detective Renee Ballard left her job because of many reasons and she thought that she would not be able to solve any case again in her life. Now a year has passed and she has been called by the chief of police who thinks that she still has a lot in her arsenal. The chief wants Renee to take the charge of the Robbery-Homicide Division. Renee finally agrees and she thinks that she needs some professional support for which she goes to Harry Bosch who has a case of his own that he has been trying to solve for a very long time.
Harry has been trying to solve a case about the murder of an entire family by a psychopath killer. For years he has tried to get to the killer but he has failed in a big way. Renee assures Harry that if he helps her in the rape and murder case of a sixteen year old girl, then she will provide him with all the support of her department in solving his case.
Harry agrees to the offer and the two start the investigation of the case which had been buried for a long time. The congressman who is backing the squad happens to be the brother of that young girl so he wants them to get to the killer as quickly as possible.
Michael Connelly’s The Lincoln Lawyer is still a major hit and the author is producing more like it almost every time. When he produced Desert Star, the fans thought that he would not be able to produce a better story than that, afterward. However, the creation of this book which is narrated by two experts i.e Titus Welliver, Christine Lakin, and Peter Giles has proved that those old notions were wrong.
