Lee Child since the beginning of the series has taken Jack to various places around the globe, what he is searching for no one knows. Peace is what he craves for but other things like love and a passion for the family are just not there. Whether he is heartbroken or not, nobody knows anything in association with his past. It is hard to believe that such an aimless man possesses an accurate aim for his targets and gets the job done all the time even when he is not getting paid by anyone.
There is also one crazy thing about him i.e he is aware of his surroundings all the time and knows more about the world than any other man on the planet. Jack Reacher’s eyes are set for Texas this time also he is enjoying the journey because it is not for the sake of an investigation. On the way, Jack meets Carmen who looks a wild sort of a girl not like the woman he met in Die Trying and Tripwire. But the girl is in trouble and she has reached Jack for a reason, there are certain things about her husband and her hometown that she wants to tell.
If Jack becomes a part of her plan there might be a danger to his life but for the old veteran, it’s just part of his daily routine thus the mission is on. When you get this book the first surprise that you get is the change of narrator, after listening to Dick Hill that surprise will disappear in no time. Dick Hill is better than the previous narrator in so many ways that one cannot tell in a single sentence.
