Whoever thinks of it as another fairy tale for the kids then he is seriously going on the wrong track. There is romance, magic and a seductive element in this book but the softness of a fairy tale is surely absent in this one. The children can listen to this in Abby Craden’s voice but there are several aspects of this book which they would not be able to understand.
The Fey King Rain used to rule the land with all his might and it was he who removed all the darkness from the world in the past. After the death of his beloved mate, the king just got wild and destroyed almost the entire world after which he went to the Fading Lands and never returned.
Now the danger of the dark forces is again loaming over the world and Rain is not interested to start the war against it once again. However Ellysetta the daughter of an ordinary woodcutter starts appealing Rain once again. It seems that he has found his lost soul mate and he does not want to lose her again. She calls him in such a charming way that he cannot resist the temptation.
For the safety of this one soul the Fey King comes out of the hiding once again and prepares for the battle against the forces that destroyed his life once. Author C.L. Wilson also has Lady of Light and Shadows and The Winter King in stock for the fans if they are interested in continuing with the series. The books have magic, romance and hidden conspiracies which provide a remarkable spice to the listeners.
