J.N. Chaney and Christopher Hopper are bang on target from the first book, the stakes become high all of a sudden because of the nasty twists that the story contains. Starting of the mission is simple; Magnus and his team are given a duty to take a diplomat to the peace summit. All they have to do in the mission is to protect the one person till he reaches the designated place. Team gets itself prepared for the journey but then the tower gets hit by something no one expected.
Everyone including the diplomat gets severe injuries and the contact for reinforcement is also lost. Alien diplomat which Magnus was bound to protect gives him a hard drive moment before his death and asks him to take it to the summit. Outnumbered and broken the soldier gets another task after failing in the first one badly.
Only this time he is not allowed to fail because if he fails the universe will collapse with it. R.C. Bray adds more and more energy to his voice after every chapter and thrill gets loaded into our ears automatically. The book is not much different as compared to The Messenger or Galactic Breach but it has a very detailed and enriched start.
The other two seem to be written in a hurried manner by the authors. Among all other books that the two authors have created this one will always remain a master piece. Characters, action, fight and the death scene of the alien all of it just touches the heart directly and the mind accepts it without any question raised against it.
