Harlan Coben is a much accomplished and dynamic writer in a series. You will find him building up the story and the characters with much more passion and dedication, just as the series grows, chapter by chapter. The subject novel, Shelter is the opening one of the Mickey Bolitar novel series, which goes on to become one of the finest series of its time. It is a fictional novel with teens as its prime intended audience. Nick Podehl has given the narration of this novel and considering the type of novel and characters and also the vocal abilities of Nick Podehl, he has done a great job.
Mickey Bolitar was going through a rough and tough time, and things couldn’t get worse for him. After seeing the death of his dad and sending her mother to rehab, he had no choice but to live with one of his estranged uncles, Uncle Myron. It also meant that he had to switch his high school too.
Change of school was a huge transition for him as it was time to make some new friends and new enemies as well. Luckily for Mickey Bolitar that he happened to find a new and a lovely girlfriend there. Her name was Ashley. Just for some time, it looked that Mickey’s life started to get better and on track, but that wasn’t the case. Ashley goes missing and that too without a trace. Mickey was shattered to see another dear person walking out of his life.
Harlan Coben has a rich archive with many successful novels to his credit. If a couple of those has to be recommended, then they could possibly be Six Years and Run Away.
