This book starts the trilogy related to the Chinese culture and the norms which they follow. Kevin Kwan very nicely portrays the Chinese new generation and the luxury that it enjoys because of its relation to the upper class. The novel is about three families who are rich up to the maximum standards and one of their young boys bring home his girlfriend.
The girlfriend also belonged to a Chinese family but was American born because of which she never saw a Chinese mansion and did not know about the rich families in China. Rachel Chu the American born makes herself ready to spend her summer with Nicholas in Singapore. She has a typical Asian mentality because of which she wants a nice soft corner in life where she can settle with her future husband and live the rest of her life peacefully and full of love.
Ironically Nicholas and his family live in a huge mansion in China and their life is in a busy state all the time as they spend most of their time in planes and car, going for a meeting and attending functions all the time. Astrid another famous girl in Singapore is presented as the one who represents overseas Chinese people who are not that much a fan of Chinese Traditions.
Thus a competition starts between the mainland boys and the overseas. Rachel Chu gets a chance to analyze both in a better way before her marriage and there is also a question that which family is suitable for her if she still has the luxury of a choice. Lynn Chen narrates in a tone that is appealing to the reader and tells the story in an awesome manner.
Just like this book on crazy rich Asians you people also like listening to the other best sellers in the same genre China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems.
