There was one way in and one way out of the vampire world, Sookie went in and then she destroyed the way out. Convention of the vampires was never her game but she was unable to stop herself from putting her nose into a serious matter. Despite of the warnings of the fairy godmother she did not back down, result was good in the sense that she saved life but whose going to save her. Death of Quinn also disturbed her mentally and emotionally, she does not want vengeance rather she needs a place to rest for a while.
During these days several interesting thing happen to her. King of Nevada launches an attack on Louisiana and Arkansas to get full hold of the kingdom. The queen who was injured in All Together Dead did not stand a chance against the mighty ruler and thus she perishes. As a result of this all the sheriffs are slaughtered but not Eric. Eric is rather imprisoned on his own request and is taken to the dungeons where no one could reach him anymore.
Here Sookie gets two surprises one is that she is linked to the fairy world somehow and the second that her heart tries to reach for Eric. She can here the feelings of Eric for her and can also track the place where he is kept. During this campaign she also gets the info that Quinn is actually not dead and he too has been kept hostage by the king. Charlaine Harris in this novel also introduced Hadley’s son, Hadley was Sookie’s cousin who left property for her in Definitely Dead. The boy also has telepathic powers like Sookie and that’s why he gets a good welcome by the narrator Johanna Parker.
