Happy-Go-Lucky is a collection of essays. The title is written and narrated by David Sedaris. He is an American author, humorist, comedian, and radio contributor. If you want to enjoy something really good from the author then Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim is the book for you. I Talk Pretty One Day is another book with similar vibes.
As the narrator of Happy-Go-Lucky, David Sedaris was good with his accent, expression, and overall tonal quality.
David Sedaris was the one spending his time with normal things. That was the case back in time when the menus of restaurants were printed on paper and wearing a mask was a decision only for Halloween. As the Happy-Go-Lucky opened up, he was learning gun shooting along with his sister, visited the Serbian flea markets, bought gummy worms to feed ants, and then told his father some good wheelchair jokes.
After that pandemic started and he was stuck in lockdown just like so many other people around the world. He was unable to tour and was denied reading for the audiences, which was the part of his work that he loved the most. To cope with the situation, he walked for several miles through a deserted city nearby and was able to only smell his breath. He used to vacuum clean his apartment twice every day. He completely failed to hoard anything at home and contemplated how the acupuncturists and sex workers might be getting by during that tough quarantine time…
The book is good with a solid story. In chapter 8, there will be an audio glitch with some stuff overlapping. Apart from that, it is a flawless and highly enjoyable book.
